Change or the Politics of Yesterday:
The primaries have been pretty interesting this year... The Republicans have settled their contest pretty early with John McCain as the likely presidential candidate. While the Democrats are locked in a contest of old school politics, and new blood. The lines in the sand are clearly already drawn. Do we elect the party politics of the past or take a chance on the future? Many people will agree that the politics of the past has not led this country in the right direction. Many politicians, and talking heads will disagree with this attitude that the country is going south. What is inescapable is that the quality of life for the majority of Americans has declined appreciably. What can't be refuted is that the country has become indebted to other nations at an alarming, and to a disgraceful degree. The truth is that the politics of the old has become disenfranchised from the reality of the average American. The politicians of both parties are living in denial about the realities of the economy. The government(politician's) at the expense of the American people has allowed corporate interest's to trump the well being of the country for the needs of the few. This year politicians are talking about Universal healthcare, securing our borders, illegal immigration, the war in Iraq, Afghanistan, our economy (the recession), and the crumbling infrastructure (bridges and roads across the nation in disrepair), and National Security. The joke is that all these things have affected our National Security. The government has been mismanaged, and the wealth of this country has been siphoned off to the very wealthy. There's no real quick fix for this paradigm. We've seen the largest shift of wealth that the world has ever seen from the working class to the obscene wealthy. Why is there no discussion about balancing our budget, and paying down our national debt? The Republican party say's that the Democrats want to raise taxes, and increase government programs. The truth is the American people can't pay their bills now with the proliferation of low paying jobs from the millions of service jobs created. The current President likes to point out the number of jobs created. Most of these jobs are minimum wage, and unfit to raise a family on. While we trajically see tech jobs being exported to other countries, and the remaining jobs outsourced for a fraction of what they use to pay. Manufacturing jobs have declined at a record pace, and the politics of old say's that the economy is strong. Why should we believe anything the rascals say, when we see the obvious, high inflation (a gallon of milk costing $4, gasoline over $3 per gallon), tens of thousands of good people losing their homes, and the old school politicians are saying that everything is okay...? We need change... We've lost our moral compass in this country. The headlines everyday show that the morals of this country are declining even faster then the economy. Artist's in the headlines in and out of rehab, students killing students in our schools, and to top it off the homosexual agenda to redefine the meaning of marriage. God established marriage as between a man and a woman. The reality is that neither party has the will or the intellectual capital to make the changes that this country desperately needs. We need people that can create new opportunities with the intention to uplift America to new heights. Unfortunately, we as a nation have become entrenched to this is how we've always done things and this is what's leading to our downfall. Nothing the politicians can say can change the reality of our faltering standard of living. They can't vilify each other as not having enough experience, when the politics of old don't work, and we need people to think outside of the box to come up with complex solutions to solve our most pressing needs. Do we look backwards, and reminisce at how good America use to be, or do we go to work realizing that we have a chance to grow our country into something future generations will be proud of?
